Polaroid film is particularly suitable for various forms of alternative processing, possibly the most notable of these are image manipulations with SX-70 film and Emulsion lifting with peel apart film. Many photographers would also exploit the borders left by peel apart film by not cropping off. Polaroid actively encouraged this behavior especially in the later days of the films production.
The Belgian Danny Matthys is a pioneer in Polaroid art. Stefanie Schneider is an artist who uses polaroid material exclusively.
Poloroid art is becoming more accepted in the art world. Poloroid photographs have a bright, ghostly effect and have a style that appeals to many young people.
